Grammy award-winning singer Mary J. Blige has confessed that her religious beliefs own nothing to do with her support for male lover marriage because she is "not God".
Speaking to LA Confidential, the born-again Christian explained that she doesn't agree with people who don't understand how she can be an advocate of gay marriage and religious:
"I would say this to those people: I’m not God. God said not to judge anyone lest you be judged. That’s it."
"Who am I to point my finger?' You’ve got to stroll in love. To state you do not desire people to be joyful is so mean, so not me."
She added that she has been taught that God is affectionate , regardless of circumstance: "God loves me no matter what. He loves me high. Sober. Gay. Linear. I can’t let the world tell me anything different."

Mary J. Blige Opens Up About Drug Addiction, Queer Marriage in Los Angeles Confidential Magazine
Mary J. Blige talks candidly about battling addiction, gay marriage, religion and more in the latest issue of Los Angeles Confidential magazine.
The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has been through a lot of drama in her life, including being a drug addict for several years. She admittedly even appeared high at the Grammy Awards. "Back then? Shoot. I was drinking like a crazy person. Still sniffing cocaine going in," she recalls.
Miraculously, she overcame her drug addiction by embracing her Christian faith. "I dont know why. But I didnt yearn to go to rehab," she tells the magazine. "I believe that anything man himself can undertake for me, God can do for me in a greater way. I decided to pray and to seek God on my own. I just stayed in the Synonyms. And it worked."
When asked what her views on gay marriage were, MJB felt it wasn't her place to judge other people. "Im not God. God said not to judge anyone lest you be judged. Thats it,&quo
You could say this is Mary J. Blige's second existence. Her first, candidly chronicled on her confessions-of-a-wreck album "My Life," was an early glimpse into one of the biggest singing superstars in the nature, who not only went public with her pain but eventually overcame it. "My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act 1)" is the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul 17 years later, after releasing nine other studio albums, taking home just as many Grammys and becoming, as she now calls herself, "the living proof." That's also the title of a song on her latest album, originally recorded for "The Help," that nabbed her a Golden Globe nomination this year.
In a recent chat, Blige let us in on her "Life," how she became aware of her gay following and – when asked about pal P. Diddy's "faggot" controversy – why she thinks "people should be careful with their words."
Your middle initial isn't visible on the album cover. Is there significance to that? Does that symbolize a modern era in Mary J. Blige's life?
Nah. Just didn't have any room for it! (Laughs) I'm in the middle of the picture and the J is i
Althoughsheidentifies herself as a born-again Christian, Mary J. Blige fully supports same-sex marriage.
The Grammy award-winning hip-hop superstar silenced her naysayers in an interview with Los Angeles Confidential. "I would express this to those people: I’m not God," she told journalist Kevin Sessums. "God said not to judge anyone lest you be judged. That’s it. Who am I to point my finger? You’ve got to saunter in love. To say you do not want people to be happy is so imply, so not me."
Blige, 41, previously expressed her thoughts on lgbtq+ marriage at the Democratic National Convention last year, telling civil rights attorney and radio host Yetta Kurland, "I think people that support love, it’s incredible. It’s love."
In , she told The Advocate, "The majority of my fans are gay I have to really make sure that they know I’m paying attention to the fact that they support me, and I support them."
