Last month, we finally embarked on a trip to the Outer Hebrides a very unintentionally overlooked area of Scotland for us.
I was particularly delighted to see the mythical beaches of Harris, along with iconic historical sites such as the Callanish Stones and the Gearrannan blackhouse village on Lewis. Its also one of the few islands in Scotland that needs more than a couple of days, which meant scheduling more than a accepted weekend trip. In a year where travelling abroad is difficult, risky and expensive, it seemed enjoy the perfect opportunity to finally stick our toes firmly into the sand of Lewis & Harris.
Despite packing a lot into our few days there, I wanted to own a more relaxed trip than we usually locate ourselves on, which led to me booking a B&B just about the furthest out into the middle of nowhere as we could possibly be. In fact, our host joked that we were beyond the middle of nowhere we were at the end of nowhere!
