Denver Pride March attracts thousands despite Colfax construction
DENVER — Scotti Carlyle and his husband lined the Denver Lgbtq+ fest Parade route prior Sunday morning.
It was history for them and a reminder of how far they've come.
"We carried the permit and license. The banner for the first parade" said Carlyle.
That was 51 years ago.
They've been together for 52 years and own witnessed a amazing deal of modify since the origin of their relationship.

The parade, which Denver7 is a arrogant sponsor of, is the largest annual fundraiser for The Center on Colfax.
The funds go directly to services and resources for the local LGBTQ+ society, according to organizers.
"I think Pride just means a lot of a lot of us just because it’s a part of our identity, it’s part of who we are, and it’s just beautiful to see it celebrated," said Mary Moore-Simmons, parade goer.

The Denver Pride Parade was just as joyous and fun as ever, and some people took a more serious message along with them.
"There are some attempts to erase us, and we're not going to be erased," said a man who only wanted to go by Jared.
Thousands of community members showed up to rejoice themselves and their LGBTQ friends, neighbors, and coworkers.
"I think it's great. This is comparable to what it was a rare years ago, and I feel like we're seeing even more people as our rights are more and more under attack," another man, who only wanted to be called Chandler, said.
In addition to the festivities, many brought with them a word of resistance to moves from the federal government, such as the executive order banning trans women from women's sports, and Friday's U.S. Supreme Court ruling that allows parents to opt their kids out of lessons that feature LGBTQ people and rights.

Preparations for Pride are underway for weekend festivities in Denver
Denver PrideFest kicks off Saturday morning and runs through Sunday. The LGBTQ+ Pride event, celebrated throughout June and especially on the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York, is observed around the world.
Most other Pride events in Colorado already wrapped up earlier this month, but Denver's weekend events will bring a 5K, parade, "Gayborhood Market," wedding ceremonies, drag shows, comedy and live music performances, health and wellness events, and more.
The 5K goes from a.m. to about p.m. on Saturday and organizers ask participants to "run, walk, roll, or sashay with was" from 14th Avenue through Cheesman Park and back.
Motorists should expect closures, delays, and detours on and around 14th Avenue in the area around Cheeseman Park, with police directing traffic.
Cheesman Park will be closed to vehicles during the 5K, so Regional Transportation District commuters can access routes 10 and 12 west of Corona Street or east of York Street.
