It’s upon us again, international women’s day.
Brace yourselves for the thousands upon thousands of platitudes from companies etc that mean precisely fuck all.
I understand the reasoning behind international women’s day, I’m on board with the fight for equality, I love creature woman, but I loath what this day has become….a massive fucking gimmick that is beyond patronising.
This year’s theme is include equity.
“The quality of organism fair and impartial”.
Seems unbiased enough, I suppose.
However, the marketing behind this years theme has suggested we all “strike the equity pose”, and we do that sharing pictures of us hugging ourselves on social media…..
… not doing it, absolutely no way in hell.
What I don’t understand is how, in any way is it in keeping with why international women’s day was started in the first place? How is it tackling some of the very authentic societal problems that means we still don’t hold equality?
If anyone can enlighten me, that would be great, because I’m at a loss.
